Evaluations in positions focused on teaching – ExPECT
The video addresses the evaluation of researchers whose roles include significant teaching responsibilities, broadly defined to encompass supervision, mentoring, and support for early-career researchers. While teaching is vital for renewing the research community, institutional reward systems often prioritise research outputs, which can discourage investment in teaching. Even with robust evaluation methods, such as teaching portfolios and structured rubrics, the value of teaching may be overshadowed by research.
CoARA ExPECT, supported by CoARA Boost funding, represents a collaborative initiative involving the University of Oulu, Ruhr University Bochum, and Tampere University. The Teaming project from Cascade Funding Call 1 actively advances CoARA's vision to reform researcher assessment practices. The video catalogue produced by the CoARA ExPECT project has been formally endorsed by the CoARA Steering Board and is available on the CoARA Collection: http://www.coara.org/collection
