Principles and guidelines for selecting and training evaluators ExPECT

The video emphasises that selecting and training evaluators is fundamental to responsible researcher assessment. Organisations must define the purpose and criteria of each assessment before identifying suitable evaluators, considering disciplinary background, methodological expertise, and career stage. Diversity in perspectives and experience is essential to reduce bias, while impartiality must be maintained by avoiding conflicts of interest. Evaluators should not be chosen solely for their experience, as new approaches may require fresh perspectives.

CoARA ExPECT, supported by CoARA Boost funding, represents a collaborative initiative involving the University of Oulu, Ruhr University Bochum, and Tampere University. The Teaming project from Cascade Funding Call 1 actively advances CoARA's vision to reform researcher assessment practices.
