Developing an interactive tool for academic career assessment: In conversation with Rita Morais

As part of CoARA's Working Group interview series filmed in Graz, Austria, Dr. Rita Morais outlines the mission and objectives of the CoARA Working Group Reforming Academic Career Assessment.

Dr. Rita Morais is the Co-Chair of the CoARA Working Group on Academic Career Assessment and represents the European University Association (EUA). EUA became an official CoARA sponsor in September 2026, supporting a community-owned coalition.

In the interview, Dr. Rita Morais discusses the importance of CoARA Commitment 1: recognising diverse activities of researchers in the context of academic career assessment. Rita also brings us closer to the key output of the WG: an online platform to consolidate tools and resources for reforming academic career assessment. The interactive platform aims to support universities and research performing organisations involved in career assessment find the tools they need to implement their reform commitments.
